16 July – Epilogue

We’ve been home two full days now, and have been reflecting on our wonderful trip.  We all know that going on a trip/vacation is wonderful, and just as wonderful is coming home.  We were warmly welcomed by kids and grandkids who live by us, and with phone/email by others not so close.

Even Champion (Nano) was happy to see us.

We also pulled together our main purchases from this trip… Kathy’s quest for yarn and my interest in Scotch Whiskey resulted in significant accumulation!

No wonder the suitcases were so heavy!

We find ourselves retelling the stories of our travel to each other, probably a way of firming them  up in our memories.  We also find ourselves marveling at how lucky we have been, traveling to Europe and the UK five times… more than either of us ever anticipated (five more times than anticipated by me, to be honest).  So we are thankful, and are committed to showing our gratitude by being generous in our charitable outreach in the coming months.

It also makes us think about people.  We have been so lucky to meet up with very friendly and nice folks on these trips… there are wonderful people everywhere!  It seems like each trip we have made a connection with folks with whom we’ve kept in contact, and that certainly has enriched our lives.  Whether we travel again in Europe, or focus on traveling in the United States, we both look forward to meeting more folks, and being nice folks to others.

To you who have followed this blog and commented, “Thanks!”  It’s been fun to record our days and photos, and share them (and it forces me to make that journal of our travel so we can look back when our memory fails us!).
